UCF Spirit Squads Ready to Compete at Nationals

ORLANDO - The UCF cheerleading and dance squads are set to compete at the 2022 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship this weekend at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort.

The competition takes place from Saturday, Jan. 15 to Monday, Jan. 17 with single-day tickets available for purchase at the ESPN Wide World of Sports box office on each day of the event.

The UCF cheerleading team will be competing in the Division 1A Co-Ed Division. In addition to finishing as national runner-up last year, the team has won national championships in 2003, 2007 and 2020.

The UCF dance team will compete in Division 1A Hip Hop and Division 1A Jazz. The team has placed as high as fifth in the nation in the Jazz Division in the past.

On Saturday, the dance team is scheduled to compete in the jazz division semifinals at 8:34 a.m. and hip hop semis at 1:49 p.m. The cheer team is scheduled to compete in semifinal action at 11:13 a.m.

How can fans support the teams and watch their performances if they can't travel out to Wide World of Sports?
A great opportunity to watch a preview of the performance is at this week's men's and women's basketball games.
 
Tuesday Jan. 11 - Women's Basketball Game vs. Houston

  • Halftime: Dance Team will perform its jazz routine
  • Post-Game: Cheer Team will perform its routine

Wednesday Jan. 12 -  Men's Basketball Game vs. Memphis

  • Pre-Game: Dance Team will perform its hip hop routine
  • Halftime: Cheer Team will perform its routine
  • Post-Game: Dance Team will perform its jazz routine

The weekend's competition will be streamed live on VarsityTV.com. The Division 1A finalists will be announced at 1:15 p.m. Finalists for the jazz division will be announced at 12:30 p.m. and hip hop finalists will be announced at 5:30 p.m.

The Division 1A finals will take place on Sunday with jazz at 9 a.m., hip hop at noon, and cheerleading finals at 6 p.m.
