ORLANDO, Fla. – McKenna Melville of the UCF volleyball team added to her historic 2021 season as she was named a VolleyballMag.com Second Team All-American.
This marks the fourth time VolleyballMag.com has recognized Melville. The Eagan, Minnesota native was named to the third team in 2018 and 2020 and to the fourth team in 2019.
"I've always valued Volleyball Magazine and their selections because they don't have the same bias that other All-American selection groups may have," head coach Todd Dagenais said, "This is a big honor for McKenna to receive Second Team All-American and frankly, that's where I feel she belongs on each of the other All-American lists. Between her performances, her numbers, and the depth and width of her skill set, this is the target area where she should be landing.
"With gratitude, I thank Volleyball Magazine for the work they have done this year and we're all very grateful for McKenna and what she did to help our team's success this year. She is creating her legacy at a trajectory for future Knights to follow."
Playing in and starting all 125 sets for the Knights, Melville led UCF to its fourth-straight conference title and NCAA appearance. The Eagan, Minnesota native dominated offensively while leading the nation with 701 points (5.61 points per set), 617 kills (4.94 per set), and 1,558 total attacks. She also added 34 aces this season.
Melville is the active career leader in kills per set (4.64), attacks per set (12.35) and is fifth in total attacks (5,298), and sixth in kills (1,990).
A true six-rotation player, Melville has shined defensively as well as she led the team in digs with 383 (3.06 per set). The outside hitter also led the Knights in block solos with 16 on the season while she totaled 84 blocks.
Melville is an all-around threat, picking up 19 double doubles this season and 71 over her career.
The senior was named AVCA Third Team All-American, the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team, AAC Player of the Week seven times this season, CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, and AVCA All-Region.
