ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF men's tennis team closed out the UCF Invite on Sunday, November 7, at the USTA National Campus with eight wins.
In doubles action, Lleyton Cronje and Bryan Triana earned a come-from-behind win over Yatsuk/Oliveira from South Florida. The duo came back to tie the match 5-5 after going down 4-2. They battled to get the win in 7-6(9). Cronje and Triana then went on to win their second round of doubles over Aguiard/Ferreira from Alabama by a score of 6-4.
JC Roddick and Cooper White teamed up to defeat Ferguson/M-Hidalgo from South Florida in the first round with a score of 6-3. The pair then had to work hard for their second win, defeating Christiansen/Foster from Alabama with a score of 7-6(7-2).
Kento Yamada and Quinn Snyder first saw action in the second round of doubles, facing Huempfner/Krolo from FAU. The duo fell by a score of 6-2.
In singles, the Knights went four for four. JC Roddick fought hard to earn the win in straight sets over Aguiar from Alabama 6-1, 7-5 while Lleyton Cronje also got a win over Montessa from South Florida, 6-3 [retired].
Cooper White fell in the first set but shifted momentum to take the final two to win, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, over Oliveira from South Florida.
Quinn Snyder also battled in a long match against Mohandoss from South Florida. Snyder came out strong to win the first set in 6-2 but dropped the second 3-6. It came down to the very end in the third and Snyder came out on top to win it in 7-6(3).
