Melville Earns Sixth Player of the Week Honor

ORLANDO, Fla. – Leading the Knights to their fourth-straight American Athletic Conference title with another undefeated weekend, McKenna Melville earned her sixth Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season, the league office announced on Monday.

"I know McKenna is really proud of these player of the weeks," head coach Todd Dagenais said, "I know she thanks her teammates for the effort they put in to help her succeed. I am sure she could not be more excited to have done it in a week of such critical nature where we put ourselves in position to, and ultimately, win another conference championship. It's pretty special to have won a championship in a major conference all four of her years and as a constant enforcer on the court, she has led to us being in the position to earn those championships. Racking up these player of the weeks gets her the attention she needs as she goes through the process of trying to become an all-American and an academic all-American."

The Knights extended their win streak to 13 straight as Melville recorded her 15th double-double this season, making it her 67th of her career.

Melville is second in the nation with 607 points and 535 kills as she posted 31 kills (5.17 per set) with an incredible .491 hitting percentage in six sets over the weekend. She also totaled eight blocks (1.33 per set), 17 digs, and had 36 points (6.00 per set).

In the three-set match win over the Bulls, Melville picked up 21 kills and hit .600 with zero errors. She also grabbed four blocks, six digs, and an ace for 24 points in the match. Then in the incredible sweep over Temple, Melville earned a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs and hit .318 in doing so. The outside hitter also recorded four blocks for a total of 12 points in the short match.

Nerissa Moravec was also named to the honor roll for the second time this season as she notched 10 blocks (2.00 per set) and 15 points (3.00 per set) in just six sets. The middle blocker also grabbed 10 kills (2.00 per set).
