ORLANDO – Kyle Wilshire is on a roll. The former Knight has qualified to his second PGA TOUR event in as many months after finishing first overall at the RSM Open Monday qualifier with an 8-under 62 score.
With the win, Wilshire became one of four qualifiers to earn their spot in the upcoming RSM Classic, taking place from Nov. 18 – 21 at Sea Island Resort in Sea Island, Georgia. The event purse is just over 7 million dollars.
The RSM Classic, one of only 52 PGA TOUR events, provides its winner with 500 FedEx Cup Points. The 2020 winner of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship was Robert Streb.
At the 2021 Butterfield Bermuda Championship in Southampton, Bermuda, Wilshire finished with a T-62 finish after turning in scores of 73-67-72-72=284(+1).
A member of the UCF men's golf team from 2010-14, Wilshire helped lead the Knights to a conference title in 2010-11, two NCAA Regional appearances in 2010-11 and 2013-14, and two NCAA Championship appearances in 2011-12 and 2012-13. He was on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2017, playing in 22 events.
