It has been a long time since a new logo caught on quite as quickly as the Script Knights has for UCF Football. It had always been a great look when the baseball team used it, but something about the way it pops on a helmet is so special. Late 2016 and early 2017 when UCF first began using chrome gold is the last time a decal became part of the brand this fast.
But for a school that innovates as much as UCF, it's already time to try out a new take on the Script. For the Knights' big game against SMU, it will be redone in black with gold flake. As great as the chrome gold version is, this matches so well with the rest of the combo of white jerseys and black pants.
You have elements of black playing off each other from the pants to jersey numbers to decal and facemask. If you've read enough of these columns, you know I'm a huge fan of a main color being featured through all three parts of the uniform. This combo does that perfectly. And the black Script should pop especially well for the noon kickoff.
It's also another great opportunity to redeem the White/White/Black combo. Versions of it were worn in UCF's losses to Pitt in 2019 and Navy earlier this year. But it's such a strong uniform, probably one of the flat-out best road looks that the Knights' current uniform set can create. It should get a nice boost of luck from the Script Knights decal, which UCF is 2-0 in and wore for the team's first road win of the season against Temple.
