CHARLESTON, S.C. – The UCF women's tennis concluded its week at the 2021 ITA All-American Championships in Charleston, South Carolina.
After opening play with a win over No. 14 Vanessa Wong of Washington in the main draw yesterday, No. 20 Valeriya Zeleva went up against No. 12 Alexa Noel of Iowa in the round of 16 this morning. Zeleva edged out Noel in the first set but was unable to hold on as she fell in three with a score of 6-7(6), 6-2, 6-1.
No. 80 Evgeniya Levashova opened tournament play in the qualifying singles first round on Monday with an attempt to making it into the main draw. She fought hard and nearly took the first set, but ultimately fell to NO. 27 Sabina Machalova from Ole Miss with a score of 7-6(2), 6-1.
Due to weather, Levashova's second match was delayed an entire day, but she was able to close out play with a win in the qualifying singles consolation draw as she defeated Madeline Lamoreaux from Utah in a quick 6-0, 6-2 decision.
