Hilderbrand Earns Runner-Up at Regionals

GAINESVILLE, Fla.  – Trey Hilderbrand of the UCF men's tennis team had a great showing all weekend and earned the runner-up finish in singles at the ITA Southeast Regionals in Gainesville, Florida.
 
Trey Hilderbrand squared off with No. 31 Andres Martin from Georgia Tech, who was playing as the No. 5 seed in the tournament. Hilderbrand dropped the first set, 2-6, before getting out to a 3-0 lead in the second. Martin came back with five straight to lead 5-3, but Hilderbrand finished strong to take the second set in 7-5 to force the third. Hilderbrand fought hard, but ultimately fell after dropping the third set 2-6.

As the tournament's No. 14 seed, Hilderbrand was able to string together five wins in the tournament to advance to the main draw final.
