Kattenberg Competes in Qualifying Draw

ORLANDO, Fla. – Anique Kattenberg of the UCF women's tennis team competed in the singles qualifying draw of the ITA Southeast Regional tournament at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
 
In her first match of the day, Kattenberg faced Valentina Taddia of Kennesaw state. She came out strong to take the first set but was unable to keep it as she dropped the second. Down to the very end, Kattenberg came up on top and won the match by a score of 6-2, 1-6, 12-10.
 
She moved onto the second round where a win would advance her to the main draw on Friday.
 
Kattenberg took on Rosie Garcia Gross, the seventh seed in the draw, from Georgia Tech in the second round, but fell 6-2, 6-1.

First Round
Anique Kattenberg def. Taddia (Kennesaw State) – 6-2, 1-6, 12-10
Second Round
Garcia Gross (Georgia Tech) def. Anique Kattenberg – 6-2, 6-1
 
UP NEXT
The Knights will begin the main singles and doubles draw on Friday, playing for the championship match on Monday.
