ORLANDO – Following the Knights' home win over ECU on Saturday, the American Athletic Conference named UCF junior linebacker Tatum Bethune its Defensive Player of the Week for his 17-tackle performance against the Pirates.
It marked Bethune's first-career weekly honor from the AAC, and he is the second Knight to receive Defensive Player of the Week honors from the conference this season, following Kalia Davis, who earned the accolades back on Sept. 6.
Bethune totaled a career high 17 tackles in the win on Saturday, besting his previous top performance of 11 tackles at Memphis on Oct. 17, 2020. The junior had 11 unassisted stops and six assisted tackles, as UCF held ECU to just 16 points.
Bethune was also named AAC Defensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
The Knights will be back in action this Saturday when UCF plays at 3rd-ranked Cincinnati. UCF and the Bearcats are scheduled to kickoff at noon from Nippert Stadium with coverage on ABC and FM 96.9 The Game.
