With Blake Bortles set to be inducted into the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, it's only right for UCF to don one of his most successful combos this weekend.
The Knights will be wearing white helmets, black jerseys and gold pants for their matchup with East Carolina on Saturday. It's a modern take on a classic look, with this serving as UCF's primary combo for years before the 2016 redesign.
Bortles went 7-0 in this combo, and the success doesn't stop there. The Knights have won a conference championship in this look and were also sporting it for their first ever bowl win back in 2010.
This combo has seen several different iterations through UCF's redesigns over the years, but it has obviously never looked as good as this. The chrome gold decal and sword stripe help to identify this as a modern UCF look while tying in with the gold pants, as the white numbers of the jersey match up with the white helmet.
In a strange quirk, the Knights will also be wearing this combo almost exactly six years to the day since its last appearance. White/Black/Gold was most recently sported against UConn on Oct. 10, 2015. Newer fans to the program may just see this as another of the many combos the Knights can wear in any given season.
But to fans who have been around for years, this combo will feel very familiar as UCF looks to pair Bortles' Hall of Fame induction with a big win on Saturday.
