ORLANDO, Fla. – Valeriya Zeleva and Evgeniya Levashova of the UCF's women's tennis team are ranked in singles play heading into the 2021-22 season as the ITA preseason rankings were released on Tuesday.
Zeleva, who was unanimously named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year two seasons in a row, will begin the 2021-22 season ranked at No. 20. She earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Singles Championships and went 13-2 in singles and 15-4 in doubles during the dual match season. She reached her highest ranking at No. 17 during the season and finished the year out at No. 31 after beginning at No. 67.
Levashova, who was named to the AAC Championship's Most Outstanding Player, comes in at No. 80 in the preseason ITA Rankings. Last season, she went 12-6 in singles and 9-5 in doubles. At the NCAA Tournament, Levashova went 1-1 in singles, earning a victory over Miami's No. 23 player. She climbed as high as No. 85 and finished at No. 110 last season.
