Orlando – The UCF cross country team returns to action on Friday night as the Knights host the UCF Invite.
The Knights are slated for a 6:30 p.m. race at the UCF Softball Complex.
In addition to the Knights, Daytona State College, FIU, Florida, Florida A&M, FAU, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Lynn and Stetson are all sending competitors to The City Beautiful.
UCF returns to action after a two-week break from competition. The last time out, Valerie Lastra set the UCF 4k record at the Mountain Dew Invitational with her time of 14:19.4, placing fifth.
Three other Knights joined Lastra in the top 20. Kambry Smith placed 11th, Charlotte Crook came in 15th and Alexandra Del Re came in 19th place.
As a team, UCF posted a second-place performance, only coming behind host Florida.
Based off of their strong performance, the Black and Gold entered the week one U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Region rankings on Sept. 13 and have remained locked in at No. 13 in the region for the past three weeks.
The UCF Invite also features a men's 6K race at 6 p.m. on Friday evening at the UCF Softball Complex.
