UCF is keeping the new looks coming in 2021. For the third straight game, the Knights will sport a new helmet design, as the black Knighthead logo appears on the white lids for the first time. That helmet will pair with white jerseys and black pants to create a top tier half-and-half look.
Some of UCF's most impressive combos over the years have resulted from the team keeping things simple when it comes to colors. From the blackout with white decals worn against FAU in 2018 to the pure whiteout we saw just two weeks ago, the Knights' uniforms are sometimes at their best when they focus on the stark contrast between black and white.
This combo does that admirably, with the black Knighthead and sword stripe playing off the black jersey numbers and flowing perfectly into the black pants, socks and shoes. But we still get the gold UCF decal on one side of the helmet to pair with the gold accents throughout the uniform.
While the decals and accessories are new, we have seen the white/white/black combo once before, when it was worn in a road loss to Pitt in 2019. But superstitious fans shouldn't be worried; since 2016, the Knights are 10-2 when re-wearing a combo first worn in a loss.
And this is a combo that deserves to be avenged, with the updated decals elevating what was already an excellent road look. It would be hard for any long-time fan to not appreciate a uniform like this. The black Knighthead logo and sword popping against the white helmet. The ever-present Pegasus logo shimmering on the sleeves. It's as if every week UCF sports a look that fans could only have dreamed of for the first 30-plus years of UCF Football.
