RALEIGH, N.C. – The UCF men's soccer team was edged by a score of 2-1 in a tight, neutral site contest with No. 10 Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon.

The match didn't see any scoring through the first 30 minutes but saw it' s fair share of shot attempts, as each side had five at the half hour mark. The Knights led 3-1 in shots on target, collecting two in a span of three minutes. The momentum created turned into a UCF goal in the 37th minute as Lucca Dourado found the back of the net off an assist from Anderson Rosa.

With Dourado scoring yet again, he and Gino Vivi have combined to score 12 of UCF's last 15 goals. Dourado has contributed seven of those and is responsible for three of the Knights' six goals this season and six of the last ten goals dating back to the 2020-21 campaign.

15 shot attempts had been fired in the first half, with Virginia Tech holding the slight 8-7 advantage, but it was the Knights who led in shots on goal 4-1. The Black and Gold had three corners to the Hokies' zero.

Virginia Tech came out firing in the second half and scored twice in the 60th minute, with Landon Ameres netting the equalizer followed by Jacob Labovitz tallying the go-ahead goal just 18 second after the first one.

The 83rd minute saw Dourado earn two yellows, resulting in his disqualification from the match as the Knights had to play down a man in the waning minutes. The Black and Gold couldn't complete the comeback despite attempting six shots in the final frame. Matt Douglass made a pair of saves in the match, one in each half.
