ORLANDO, Fla. – For the sixth consecutive year, the UCF men's soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for their outstanding efforts in the classroom.
A total of 602 soccer teams (220 men, 382 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 academic year. Of that total, 90 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized, including UCF.
The Knights garnered a 3.21 grade point average for the 2020-21 season.
Yannik Oettl, a three-time American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year for the Knights, was named The American's AAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's soccer during the 2020-21 season. On the pitch, he posted an 0.81 goals against average with six shutouts and eight wins. He ranked in the top 30 in the country in saves per game and save percentage. In total, 17 Knights were named to the 2020-21 All-Academic Team.
