Men’s Golf Crowned Hartford Hawks Invitational Champions

ORLANDO – For the fourth straight year, the UCF men's golf team was crowned champions at the Hartford Hawks Invitational in South Kent, Connecticut after beating out the next best team by 35 strokes. UCF's own Johnny Travale was also crowned the individual champion.

With final scores of 284-275-270=829(-35), the Knights' posted their lowest three-round total ever at the event while also tying for their second lowest 54-hole mark in program history. Similarly, UCF's 270(-18) final round total is the second lowest 18-hole total in program history.

With the individual title, Travale picked up career win number two. After a solid day one where he shot 69-72=141(-3), the Hamilton, Ontario, Canada native kicked it into another gear on the final day to card an 8-under 64 score in the final round, one stroke shy of the course record and tied for the fourth lowest 18-hole score in UCF history. Travale's  205(-11) total is also tied for the sixth lowest 54-hole total in program history.
 


Closely trailing Travale were UCF seniors Clement Charmasson and Teddy Tetak, who earned second and third place in the tournament, respectively.

Charmasson turned in back-to-back rounds of 69(-3) to open play on Monday before securing second place with a 4-under 68 score on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Tetak struggled out of the gate with a 74(+2) opening round but honed it in to post scores of 66-68=134(-10) over the final two rounds, brining his three-round total to 208(-8).

First-year Knight Luis Carrera also posted a top-10 finish after finishing with scores of 74-68-70=212(-4). Meanwhile, Markus Braadlie finished outside the top 40 after shooting 72-73-79=224(+8)

Playing as individuals in the tournaments, UCF's Egor Eroshenko and Nicholas Estrada finished with scores of 216(E) and 222(+6), respectively.

UP NEXT
The Knights will have some time to enjoy the win as their next event is not until October 11, when they will head to Spartanburg, South Carolina for the Carolina Collegiate Invitational, hosted by University of South Carolina Upstate.
