Since redesigning in 2016, UCF has made fans very familiar with its whiteout looks. The Knights have gone all-white four times since then, sporting everything from standard decals to chrome and chrome gold.
But no UCF whiteout – maybe no whiteout in whole country – has ever looked quite like this.
UCF is breaking out the reverse UCF decal and removing the sword stripe from its helmet for the team's marquee matchup against Louisville, creating one of the cleanest looks in all of college football. The Knights' whiteouts have always been top tier, especially the version with chrome gold decals that we've seen against Maryland in 2017 and Tulane in 2019.
But where that combo looked its best by emphasizing the gold accents of UCF's white uniforms, this look takes things to another level by focusing on the white itself. A white decal. No sword stripe. White all the way through the uniform. And just enough accents to keep things interesting, with the hint of gold in the decal playing off the gold number trim and the black numbers and sleeves popping more than ever before.
When UCF last played at Louisville back in 2013, the Knights scored one of their biggest wins in program history over the then 8th-ranked Cardinals. The team was still years away from its uniform revolution, so it wore one of its typical road combos of white helmets, white jerseys and gold pants. Despite being worn multiple times, that combo has since become synonymous with that big win.
This weekend's combo is deservedly great since it could also be remembered for a lot of reasons, but most importantly Gus Malzahn's first road win at UCF.
So, it only makes sense to go with the cleanest and possibly most memorable road look that the Knights have ever worn. There's an old quote often attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci: Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. This uniform proves him right in a big way.
