Knights Tied for Third Following Day One at Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The UCF women's golf team wrapped up play in their first action of the season on Monday in Charleston, South Carolina. The Knights finished the first two rounds of play in the Cougar Classic tied for third place overall with a 567(-9) total.

At nine-under-par, the Knights are tied with No. 10 Florida (-9) and currently lead some of the top programs in the country including No. 23 Vanderbilt, No. 22 Maryland, No. 15 Baylor and more. UCF currently only trails Georgia (-16) and Arkansas (-11).
 
In the Knights' return to action, UCF was paced by junior Tunrada Piddon, who finished the day in fifth place with a 70-68=138(-6) score. Piddon, who led the Knights with a 73.38 scoring average in 2020-21, tied the second lowest round of her career after knocking down six birdies to post a 4-under 68 round two.

Piddon was trailed closely by second-year Knight Camille Banzet, who birdied four times in round one to also secure a 4-under 68 round. She then followed it up with 1-under 71 round two to sit tied for sixth place with a 139(-5) total.
 
Also posting a solid day one was freshman Zoe Allaux. The first-year Knight found immediate success in her first collegiate event, posting back-to-back rounds under par to finish day one in the top 10 with a 71-70=141(-3) line.

Rounding things out for the Knights, Jess Baker shot 78-73=151(+7) while Ana Laura Collada turned in a 76-81=157(+13) day one.

The Knights will tee off in the final round of the Cougar Classic Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. UCF is paired with Baylor and North Carolina. Live stats can be found on golfstat.com here.
