Bryan Koniecko Signs Extension

ORLANDO, Fla. – After leading his team to its third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, UCF women's tennis head coach Bryan Koniecko signed a contract extension that will keep him at the helm through the 2026-27 season.

A three-time American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, Koniecko has taken the UCF women's tennis program to unprecedented heights in his five years as head coach of the Knights.

Since Koniecko took control of the program in the 2016-17 season, the Knights have made three trips to the NCAA tournament, including two Sweet Sixteen appearances. In conference play, Koniecko guided UCF to its first two American Athletic Conference titles (2019, 2021).

The Knights have also earned three NCAA Singles berths, two NCAA Doubles berths, two AAC Player of the Year awards, and two AAC Freshman of the Year awards under Koniecko's guidance. Additionally, he has coached 10 all-conference selections in his time at UCF.

After winning the conference title this past season, Koniecko led the Knights to earn the No. 9 national seed in the NCAA Tournament and the right to host the first two rounds for the first time in program history.

In a historic 2019 season, Koniecko became the fastest coach in program history to reach 50 wins after the team went 24-4, including 15-0 at home and 6-0 in the conference. The Knights also defeated Florida for the first time in program history on College MatchDay and earned their first conference title since 2002.

In just his second season at the helm, Koniecko turned the program around from a 13-9 record in 2017 to a 20-5 record in 2018 and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Koniecko's student-athletes have also excelled in the classroom as the squad has been named to the ITA All-Academic Team every year under his helm and 15 players have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes for a total of 28 times in his five years.

The Knights have geared up for another special season in 2021-22 as UCF returns an experience eight players, including the back-to-back unanimous AAC Player of the Year, Valeriya Zeleva, and AAC All-Conference team honoree, Evgeniya Levashova.
