ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF women's soccer team is ready to officially kick off the 2021 campaign as the Knights host Texas for a 6 p.m. first kick at the UCF Soccer Complex.
UCF looks to even the all-time record with Texas, which currently stands as 1-2-0 in favor of the Longhorns. The last time the two squads met in 2018, the contest went to double OT before the Knights fell 2-1.
The Knights return experience at every position from a season ago, of the 21 returnees on the roster, 10 players return with starting experience in more than half of the games from a season ago. The squad is highlighted by the 2021 Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and Preseason All-Conference honoree, Caroline DeLisle. UCF also welcomes back 2020-21 American Athletic Conference Second Team All-Conference honorees Madison Murnin and Ellie Moreno, as well as AAC All-Rookie member Katie Bradley.
The Black and Gold finished the preseason with a 2-0 victory over Miami and scored twice in thirty minutes during a weather exhibition against Florida Atlantic. Dayana Martin contributed both goals in the match against FAU, while Maggie Jenkins and Kailey Scott each supplied a goal against Miami.
Last season, Texas posted a 7-5 record to finish sixth in the Big 12 Conference. The Longhorns lone preseason contest, walked away with a 3-0 victory over Abilene Christian in their lone preseason exhibition of the 2021 campaign.
