ORLANDO, Fla. – Reeling in the first awards of the 2021 campaign for the UCF women's soccer team, Caroline DeLisle has been named the American Athletic Conference Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and a member of the Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
DeLisle, who earns her first preseason accolade of her career, made 23 saves in six starts during an abbreviated seven game 2020-21 schedule that only included conference matchups. In her career, DeLisle has logged 2,358 minutes in goal across 25 games while allowing just 18 goals for a .0687 goals against average in two seasons. The Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year accolade is shared with Sydney Martinez of South Florida, who posted a 10-1-2 record a season ago.
The last UCF goalkeeper to earn Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year was Vera Varis in 2018, who went on to earn AAC First Team All-Conference and Goalkeeper of the Year honors at the conclusion of the year.
Along with the Preseason All-Conference Team, The American also announced the Preseason Coaches' Poll, where the Knights were voted to finish fifth in the nine-team league. The Black and Gold finished the 2020-21 campaign, which was moved to the spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a 2-4-1 mark.
