ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF's Trey Hilderbrand of was crowned the champion of the International Tennis Association (ITA) National Summer Doubles Championships alongside Patrick Cacciatore from the University of Nebraska. The doubles duo defeated the University of Wisconsin's tandem of Jared Pratt and Sebastian Vile in the Men's Doubles final, 8-5.
The ITA National Summer Championships were played at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis center located on the campus of Florida State.
Wisconsin's Pratt and Vile held a slight edge early on in the match, but in a back-and-forth brawl, the match was tied up at three-all. Hilderbrand and Cacciatore pulled ahead going up by as much as three games.
The Wisconsin duo fought back to close the gap, but they never regained the lead as Hilderbrand and Cacciatore clinched the championship 8-5.
Hilderbrand adds to his collection. Last year, the junior won the 2020 ITA National Fall Singles Championship and most recently, was named to the 2021 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team.
