ORLANDO, Fla. – Gino Vivi has been a star for the UCF men's soccer team through his first two seasons. He's scored a total of 10 goals and tallied 32 total points and has been a rock on the wing since he stepped foot on campus. Vivi, along with Lucca Dourado, scored eight of the Knights' nine final goals of the 2021 season. He tallied two goals at Memphis, sealing the Black and Gold's third straight regular season conference crown. After playing their 2020-21 season in the spring, the Knights are ready to turn around and play again in the fall. Since the season's end, Vivi has had time to reflect and get reenergized for the fall campaign. Here's what he had to say:
What was your favorite memory from this past spring season?
"My favorite memory was winning the conference tournament championship in front of our home crowd. It was unbelievable. It was history made. We did something that had never been done before which made all of the players, coaching staff and everyone that works with our team tournament champions for the first time. I am very proud to be a part of this program which makes you overcome your difficulties and improve on your weaknesses and make them your strengths on and off the field."
What was the vibe like as the team started to make their comeback after the 1-3 start to the season?
"We established a mentality of seeing every game as a championship match and taking it one game at a time. There was a lot of hard work and team union in these moments that helped us achieve what we accomplished."
What have you been up to over the summer?
"I went back to Costa Rica for the first time in over a year. It was my first time seeing my family in a long time. I also went to New Jersey to spend a week with my girlfriend."
What are you most looking forward to as the beginning of the fall season gets closer?
"I'm looking forward to that feeling of having a game again. That gameday feeling is the best. We will have even more games on the schedule this year than last season, so that makes me even more excited."
