ORLANDO – UCF guard Darius Perry announced Monday that he has withdrawn from the NBA Draft and will be using his extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic to return to the Knights as a fifth-year senior for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
"I'm just excited to come back," Perry said. "We've got a good group of guys that are going to work hard, and I think we have a good chance to some special things this year."
Perry was UCF's leading scorer last season as a senior, ranking seventh in the American Athletic Conference with 14.7 points per game. A third-team all-conference honoree, Perry also led UCF in assists with 3.4 per contest.
He had entered his name for the NBA Draft earlier in the offseason but decided to return to the Knights to play one more year of college basketball.
Perry joins fellow "super senior" and the Knights' second leading scorer Brandon Mahan, who announced he'd return to UCF for one final season back in June.
