Knights Earn Team Academic Excellence Award

ORLANDO – The UCF softball team earned the American Athletic Conference Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced by the league on Thursday.
 
The Knights shared the distinction as the conference's top performing academic team in softball with Houston and Tulsa. UCF was tabbed for the second straight year and the third time overall, collecting the honor in 2015 and 2020.
 
UCF posted a 41-19-1 record in 2021, marking the seventh time in program history that the Knights have finished with 40 or more wins. The Black and Gold finished as The American runner-up and earned the program's eighth NCAA Tournament bid. UCF advanced to the regional final before falling to eventual national runner-up Florida State. The Knights finished the season with a program-best .301 team batting average and also a program-best 57 home runs.
 
In addition to softball's three Team Academic Excellence Awards, UCF has collected the award in football and women's basketball in 2013-14, football, men's basketball and softball in 2014-15, men's golf and women's tennis in 2015-16, volleyball in 2016-17, men's tennis in 2017-18, rowing and volleyball in 2018-19 and rowing and volleyball in 2019-20.
