ORLANDO – Pro Football Focus, using grades and advanced statistics, announced its Preseason All-America Team for the upcoming 2021 college football season, and UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel was among the honorees.
Gabriel was one of just four quarterbacks across the nation to be singled out, earning honorable mention preseason All-America accolades. The other three honorees were Oklahoma's Spencer Rattler, North Carolina's Sam Howell, and Miami's D'Eriq King.
An immediate star for the Knights, Gabriel broke numerous UCF records as a sophomore in 2020, including the single-game passing yards record, the most consecutive completions record, and the most 400-yard passing games in a career.
Gabriel threw for 3,570 passing yards with 32 passing touchdowns and just four interceptions as a sophomore. A second-team all-conference honoree, he has thrown at least one passing touchdown in every game of his collegiate career, a streak of 23 games that stands as the third longest streak in program history.
The Knights will open preseason camp in just over a month and will open up the 2021 season on Thursday, Sept. 2 against Boise State at the Bounce House.
