ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team will be represented internationally by Charlotte Crook at the British Athletics Championships, which are being held in Manchester, England, June 25-27.
The championship is the premier national championship in track and field in the United Kingdom and Crook will be vying for a spot on the British national team in the 1500-meter run for the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Crook, a native of Preston, England, earned all-conference honors in the 1500m at the 2021 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship. Her 4:21.64 not only led to a bronze medal in the event, but also matched the UCF record in the 1500m.
She became the first Knight to qualify for the NCAA East Regional Championships in the 1500m in May, but was unable to compete at the meet due to illness.
The 1500m heats are slated for a 3:38 p.m. ET start on Friday, June 25 with the finals running at 10:25 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 26. Both days will be streamed on the British Athletics website.
The UCF distance program will also be represented at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials this weekend. Anne-Marie Blaney is set to compete in the women's 10,000-meter run on Saturday, June 26 at 9:44 p.m. ET.
