ORLANDO – For the first time in her career, McKenna Melville has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom, and the honor means that Melville is eligible to be part of the Academic All-American Team presented by CoSIDA, set to be announced in July.

Melville is the first UCF Volleyball player to earn the honor since Tory McCutcheon in 2012. Only four members of the Black and Gold have earned the honor. McCutcheon was a three time recipient (2010-12), while Jenny Heppert (2007-08), Emily Watts (2004) and Renata Menchikova (1997) round out the other Knights who have picked up the honor.

Melville was one of 13 student-athletes named to the CoSIDA District Four NCAA Division I First Team, which covers the southeast United States.

A third-year Knight from Eagan, Minnesota, Melville was named AAC Player of the Year, AVCA Southeast All-Region, AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, Volleyballmag.com Third Team All-American and was unanimously tabbed AAC First Team All-Conference in 2020-21.

Melville played all 65 sets for a UCF team that went 16-2 overall and an undefeated, 8-0 in conference play this season. She was the Knights' primary attacker, finishing the season as the team leader in kills (4.55 per set), points (5.12 per set), and total attacks (772).

Melville was a key player on defense as well. She was second on the team with 2.97 digs per set and chipped in with a solid 34 total blocks on the season, including seven solos, good for second on the team. Her nine double-doubles led the team.

In every season that Melville has played at UCF, the Knights have won an AAC title and received a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
