EUGENE, Ore. – Running in the fastest heat of the day, Rayniah Jones advanced to the finals in the 100-meter hurdles with a top five finish in the semifinals in Hayward Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Jones, making her first NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance, posted the fifth-fastest time in the prelims. The Miami native finished third in her heat with a 12.85, just behind the collegiate leader Tonea Marshall (12.48) and Anna Cockrell (12.54)

Jones will be one of nine competitors in the hurdle finals, which are slated for a 6:42 p.m. ET/3:42 p.m. PT start on Saturday. A top eight finish will secure First Team All-America status. The rookie has already secured at least Second Team All-America distinction with a top 16 finish.

UCF is also represented in the field events on Saturday, as Asherah Collins will compete in the triple jump. The freshman is in the second flight of the event, which will begin at 6:20 p.m. ET/3:20 p.m. PT.
