ORLANDO – UCF guard Brandon Mahan has decided to use his available extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic and return to the Knights as a fifth-year senior for the 2021-22 season, he announced on Friday.
"Knights Nation. I'm Back. Let's Work," Mahan said with a 100 emoji via his caption to a highlight video on Instagram announcing his return to the program.

Mahan, a third-team all-conference honoree in 2020-21, was second on the team and 14th in the American Athletic Conference, scoring 12.3 points per game last season. He led the league with a 90.6 percent mark from the free throw line and hit 43.8 percent of his 3-point attempts, which ranked third in the AAC.
A 6-foot-5 guard, Mahan entered the transfer portal earlier this offseason and had reportedly received interest from Kansas, Georgia, Arkansas, Memphis, and Oklahoma among others, per CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.
Ultimately, the Birmingham, Alabama, native decided to return to Orlando for a third season to finish his collegiate career.
