Zeleva, Stolmar Earn NCAA Singles Bids

ORLANDO – Two Knights will represent the UCF women's tennis team in the 2021 NCAA Singles Championship, which takes place at the UCF Collegiate Tennis Center at the USTA National Campus from May 23-28. This is the first time that the Black and Gold have sent two of their own to the NCAA Singles Championship in a single season.
 
Valeriya Zeleva earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Singles Championships for the second-straight tournament as she was the highest ranked player in the American Athletic Conference.
 
Zeleva is currently ranked No. 17 in the nation in singles play, which is not only a personal best for the redshirt junior, but also the highest ranking by a Knight in program history. After losing the first two matches of the season, Zeleva has won 12 straight matches and is 7-2 against ranked opposition in 2021.
 
Rebeka Stolmar will join Zeleva in the NCAA Singles Championship as she earned an at-large selection as the second-highest ranked member of The American. The senior captain enters the NCAA Tournament is No. 37 in the Oracle/ITA rankings. She's been victorious in her last two decisions and is 12-6 on the campaign. She has become the team's go-to No. 2 singles player as she has a 7-4 record in the slot. Stolmar is the the third Knight to reach the NCAA Singles Championship.
 
Zeleva and Stolmar will begin singles action following the conclusion of the team championship. No. 9 UCF, which earned the first national seed in program history, earned hosting rights for the entirety of the NCAA Championship. The Knights welcome Charleston Southern, FIU and Miami for first and second round action, which begins on May 7 at the USTA National Campus.
