ORLANDO – The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee selected the teams and individuals to participate in the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships on Wednesday and UCF's own Johnny Travale was selected to make his first career appearance in an NCAA regional as he will head to Tallahassee, Florida to play in the NCAA Tallahassee regional from May 17-19.

The three-day event will be held at the 7,147-yard, par-73 Seminole Legacy Golf Club.

"It is definitely cool to be selected for regionals this year," said Travale. "I've been working hard this year despite not being able to play in the fall. I'm happy I was able to come in and get some good finishes in the short season to get into the regional and give myself a chance at getting into the national championship."

The second-year Knight from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada led the way for UCF at four tournaments throughout the 2021 season, ranking first on the team with a 71.56 scoring average after competing in all six events.

Travale was also unanimously selected to the American Athletic Conference All-Conference team on May 4 after posting one of the top individual seasons in the conference.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 17-19. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. Travale is a part of the latter group. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Arizona State and The Thunderbirds are the hosts for the 2021 championships.

The six regional sites include Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla. Hosted by Florida State, the Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind. Hosted by Ball State and Hamilton County Sports Authority, Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla. Hosted by Oklahoma State, The Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tenn.
