Freeland Named Conference Player of the Week

Orlando, Fla. – After a series victory against Memphis over the weekend, Alex Freeland was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. The freshman was instrumental at the plate for the Knights in their second conference series win of the year.
 
The Cape Coral, Fla. native led the charge at the plate for the Black & Gold, picking up a hit in half of his at-bats for a .500 batting over the weekend and earning a .625. on-base percent with three walks and was hit by a pitch.
 
Freeland contributed 12 total runs across the four-game weekend, driving in six RBI and plating six runs himself. He also tallied 4 doubles to carry a .825 slugging percentage.
 
The American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor is the first of Alex Freeland's career as a Knight.
 
Next Up
The UCF baseball team will turn their attention to Wichita State next weekend for a four-game set at John Euliano Park, beginning on Friday, May 7 with a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m.
