ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF starting pitcher, AJ Jones was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after the final week of the regular season, the league announced. The Sarasota, Fla. native was key in securing the sweep over Houston to close the 2021 campaign.
Jones came out of the pen for his outing against Houston, looking to maintain the shutout started by the Knights. The grad transfer tallied eight strikeouts in his 6.0 IP outing, allowing seven hits without giving up a run.
The honor marks the second time Jones has been named Pitcher of the Week in the 2021 campaign, in addition to being named to the Weekly Honor Roll once.

The Knights open the American Athletic Conference Championship on Tuesday, May 25 at 9 a.m. against the No. 4-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats.
