TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – UCF men's golfer Johnny Travale continued to build on his strong start at the NCAA Tallahassee regional on Tuesday, posting a 70(-2) second round to bring his two-day total to 139(-5), tying him for ninth place out of 75 golfers.

Currently leading the field, Jacksonville University's Michael Sakane, also playing as an individual in the tournament, holds a 133(-11) score.

Travale opened up play on the front nine on Tuesday one under par after birdying two holes and bogeying one. He repeated on the back nine, again birdying twice and bogeying the par four hole 12 to bring his 18-hole total to 70(-2).

Travale has excelled on par fives over the first two rounds, shooting six under on those holes.

Host school Florida State currently leads all teams with a 552(-24) total. To advance to the NCAA Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona, Travale must post the lowest individual score of any golfer not on a team that finishes in the top five.

Travale will be back at it Wednesday morning for the final round. He is set to tee off on hole one at 10:23 a.m.
