TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Johnny Travale made a statement on day one of the NCAA regional in Tallahassee, Florida on Monday, finishing tied for 10th place with a 69(-3) total.
Playing as one of five individuals in the 75-player field, Travale opened up the front nine with two birdies, a bogey and an eagle to sit at three under heading into the back nine.
Travale added to his stellar start on the back half, eagling hole 14. At one point, Travale was tied for second place with a -5 score before bogeying holes 17 and 18 to finish the day back at three under.
To advance to the NCAA Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona, Travale must post the lowest individual score of any golfer not on a team that finishes in the top five.
