CORAL GABLES – The UCF track and field team opened the Hurricane Alumni Invitational with an event title and a pair of personal bests in Cobb Stadium on Friday.
Chloe Hill started off the hammer throw with a mark of 170-11/52.10m. Not only did the Niceville, Fla., native set a personal best with the throw, she came away with the event title in Coral Gables.
Kaliah Jones picked up a personal best of her own to close out the events on Friday. The Kingston, Jamaica, native cleared 5-5.75/1.67m to tie for third in the high jump.
UCF also had a pair of Knights competing in their first heptathlon of the season. Holly Cassels and Kennedie Reese completed the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash on Friday. Cassels set personal best marks in all four events and currently sits in seventh place with 2880 points. Reese closed out the four events with a personal best in the 200-meter dash and is in 11th with 2423 points.
The Knights continue action at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Saturday, starting with the heptathlon long jump at 11:30 a.m. Field events begin at 2 p.m. and UCF opens track action with the 4x1 relay at 3 p.m.
