ORLANDO – McKenna Melville continued to add to her historic 2020-21 season on Tuesday as she was named a Third Team All-American.

Melville's selection comes a week after she garnered AVCA All-America honorable mention honors on April 21. This is the third time has recognized Melville as she was named third team in her freshman 2018 season and fourth team after 2019's historic run.

"This is another great honor for McKenna. Quite often, Volleyball Magazine is not hampered by the same pressures regional representatives are under, and I felt like McKenna truly deserved to be named to one of the top three All-American teams," said head coach Todd Dagenais. "We are thrilled to see Volleyball Magazine recognize McKenna's true effort and success this year."

Melville played all 65 sets for a UCF team that went 16-2 overall and an undefeated, 8-0 in conference play this season. She was the Knights' primary attacker, finishing the season as the team leader in kills (4.55 per set), points (5.12 per set) and total attacks (772).

Melville was a key player on defense as well. The Eagan, Minnesota native was second on the team with 2.97 digs per set and chipped in with a solid 34 total blocks on the season, including seven solos, good for second on the team. Her nine double-doubles led the team in 2020-21.

Melville was also named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year on April 5 and was also one of two players in the conference unanimously tabbed as a First Team All-Conference nominee (Abbie Jackson, So., OH, Houston). On April 13, she was named to the AVCA Southeast All-Region team for the third straight year.

Melville's efforts were instrumental in guiding the Knights to their third straight conference title and NCAA Tournament berth.
