BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The Knights concluded their stay in Brooksville, Florida with a 288(E) finish in the final round of the American Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday, bringing their three-day final total at the tournament to 869(+5), tying them for fifth place with ECU and Memphis.
Due to the potential for rain heading into Sunday, the format of the tournament was adjusted. The Knights teed off at 8:30 a.m. on hole 10, along with Memphis, Cincinnati and Temple.
South Florida won the tournament with an 847(-17) score. Individually, the Bulls' Albin Bergstrom paced the competition with a 205(-11) score.
Not far behind Bergstrom was UCF's own Clement Charmasson, who finished tied for fifth place after shooting under par in two of three rounds. On Sunday, Charmasson turned in a 2-under 70 score, including an eagle on the par five hole five, to finish the AAC Championship at a season-best 211(-5).
Finishing with an even 216 over his three rounds of play, second-year Knight Johnny Travale was second on the leaderboard for UCF. Travale was hot on the front nine, birdying three there to shoot an even 72 in round three and finish the AAC Championship tied for 12th place.
In the middle of the UCF leaderboard, Max O'Hagan also finished with an even 72 score in day three, birdying four holes on the back nine to move his final total to 220(+4).
Meanwhile, Teddy Tetak and Egor Eroshenko shot 74(+2) and 77(+5), respectively. Tetak finished the tournament at 223(+7) while Eroshenko checked in at 227(+11).
The Knights will find out more about their future in the coming weeks as teams and individuals participating in the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships will be announced as part of GOLF Channel's College Central coverage taking place on May 5 at 2 p.m. ET.
