ORLANDO – The UCF men's golf team is set for the American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship, taking place at the Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Florida for the first time in history. The tournament will kick off on Friday, April 23 and run through Sunday, April 25 with teams playing three 18-hole rounds. Eight teams from The American will play in pairs in a five-count-four scoring format.
The course will play at a par-72 and measure approximately 7,221 yards for the weekend.
Southern Hills was designed by renowned golf course architect Pete Dye and opened for play in 2006. The club has hosted both PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour qualifying school tournaments and has served as a Monday qualifier site for the PGA TOUR's Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor.
The Knights will utilize the same lineup for the third straight week, one that earned them a sixth place finish at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational earlier in the month. Head coach Bryce Wallor will roll with Clement Charmasson, Egor Eroshenko, Johnny Travale, Max O'Hagan and Teddy Tetak over the weekend.
Travale has proven to be one of the top golfers in the nation as he currently ranks 91st as an individual in the country according to GolfStat.
The field of competition the Knights will take on in the conference championship includes AAC foes No. 20 SMU, South Florida, Cincinnati, Wichita State, Temple and ECU.
The Knights will tee off on hole one at 9:25 a.m. Friday morning. UCF is paired up with Cincinnati to begin the tournament.
