ORLANDO – The UCF rowing team closes out the regular season this weekend, heading to North Carolina for the Lake Wheeler Invite.
Racing begins with heats on Friday afternoon on Lake Wheeler. The Varsity Eight opens UCF's events at 12:15 p.m., lining up with Stetson, Clemson and Miami. The Second Varsity Eight races Duke and North Carolina at 12:30 p.m.
The Varsity Four's heat consists of Stetson, Wisconsin and Miami at 1:15 p.m. and the Second Varsity Four will race Clemson and Stetson at 1:45 p.m. The Third Varsity Eight rounds out the heats at 2 p.m., lining up with North Carolina, Duke, Clemson and Miami.
The top boat in the heats will advance straight to Saturday's A Final. In the 2V4 race, the top two boats will advance. The remaining boats will race in the reps beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Saturday's finals begin with the 3V8 at 9:30 a.m.
The Lake Wheeler field features a pair of ranked squads in No. 13 Duke and No. 18 Wisconsin. The Knights are joined by Clemson as two additional programs that are receiving votes in the Pocock CRCA Top 20 poll.
UCF returns to action after picking up three wins in four events against Miami on Lake Pickett last weekend. The Varsity Four squad of Kennedy Keith, Lara Maule, Aryann Johnson, Annberlee Hothem and Tatum Cox earned the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week honors after cruising to an open water win.
