ORLANDO, Fla. – Picking up his first conference honors of the year, pitcher Colton Gordon was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the League announced. Gordon picked up a key victory over South Florida in game one of the four-game series on Friday, setting the tone for the Knights to earn the series win.
Colton Gordon dished out seven innings of shutout baseball, tossing seven strikeouts and allowing just four hits in his appearance. The Bradenton, Fla. native leads the Knights and is 11th in the nation with 72 strikeouts, averaging 11.71 per nine innings.
Named to the AAC Honor Roll, Pablo Ruiz picks up his first honors of the season as well. Over the weekend against USF, Ruiz carried a .429 AVG with three doubles, a home run and four RBI across the weekend.
