Men’s Hoops Signs P.J. Edwards

ORLANDO – The UCF men's basketball program has added P.J. Edwards to the squad, signing the guard out of North Carolina to a national letter of intent on Thursday.

Edwards joins Darius Johnson in head coach Johnny Dawkins' 2021-22 recruiting class. Johnson signed with the Knights back in November.

A 6-foot-4 combo guard originally out of Springfield, Illinois, Edwards is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals and has been ranked as high as the 17th-best player out of the state of North Carolina.

"We're excited to bring P.J. in as a member of our UCF family," Dawkins said. "He's a talented player who will have a positive impact on our program. P.J. can come in and defend immediately and he's a good scorer with the ability to shoot it consistently from 3-point range. We can't wait to get him on campus."

Edwards averaged 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals per game, while leading Liberty Heights to a 24-3 record and ranking as high as second in the state of North Carolina.
