Baseball Falls to Cincinnati in Series Finale

Cincinnati, Ohio – The Knights fell to Cincinnati by a score of 10-6 on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Knights bats were hot early on. Gephry Pena earned a leadoff walk, and then Jordan Rathbone went deep to right-center for his seventh home run of the season. With the Knights up 2-0, Josh Crouch would tack on two more with his two-run double.
 
UCF starter Jack Sinclair held the Bearcats in check for most of his five innings. He gave up two runs in his last inning and left with a 4-2 lead. He finished with a line of 5.0 IP, 5K, 3 ER, 6H.
 
The Black and Gold would add another run in the sixth to extend their lead to 5-2 on a Connor Allen double.
 
Cincinnati would have a six-run sixth inning to take an 8-5 lead. They would add one more run in the seventh and eighth inning, stretching the deficit to 10-5.
 
The Knights would tack on one more run in the ninth before falling to the Bearcats 10-6.

Notes:

  • Rathbone's home run was his seventh on the season, which is the second-most on the team
  • Pena's leadoff walk extended his on-base streak to 31 games in a row. His on base streak extends back to March 6, 2020
  • Josh Crouch added two RBIs on Sunday to bring his weekend total to eight RBI over the four games.

 
Next Up
The Knights will head back to Orlando for round two of the War on I-4 against South Florida. The Knights split the first four-game series in Tampa. There will be a doubleheader on Friday, with the first pitch at 2 pm. The third game will take place at 4 pm on Saturday, followed by the series finale at 1 pm on Sunday afternoon.
