TALLAHASSEE – Freshman Valerie Lastra posted a top 10 finish at the FSU Winter XC Last Chance race at Apalachee Regional Park on Friday morning.
The Miami native finished eighth overall with a time of 21:31.9.
Lastra led the pack at the 1170-meter mark and was among the top three at the halfway point of the 6K race. She was in the top 10 mix at every marker throughout the race.
The rookie was not the only competitor from the American Athletic Conference as South Florida as sent its squad to the meet. Lastra finished nearly a minute ahead of the first Bull to cross the finish line.
