EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The UCF rowing team picked up for wins while racing twice on the Rivanna Reservoir to close out the UVA Invite on Saturday.
The Varsity Eight opened the day against No. 11 Duke. The squad of squad of Elena Esteban, Leslie Lajoie, Amy Van Ryn, Julie Poulsen, Rusne Dziugyte, Charlotte Wiley, Mia Cleary, Emily Puia and Martina Pischedda, crossed the line just behind the Blue Devils in 6:51.5.
The Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Kennedy Keith, Abbie Pritchard, Georgia Coyne, Lauryn Bench, Luci Derrick, Annberlee Hothem, Tegan Fookes, Emily Klysen and Emma Leavens, finished second in 7:11.3.
The Varsity Four squad of Lauren Roman, Seyene Oord, Maria Yim, Michaela Gundrum, and Lindsey Buckreis finished second in 7:50.6 in the third race of the morning session.
The Second Varsity Four, consisting of Kenzie Harrod, Aenea Keren, Connery Cassidy, Kinley Zink and Tatum Cox, finished second in 8:10.3.
The Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Sofia Soria, Kirstan Menello, Chiara Ciullo, Emily Eastwood, Rachel Dunford, Jillian Lawrenson, Aryann Johnson, Maura Shiner and Kayla Evers rounded out the morning session with a second place finish in 7:23.5.
The Knights flipped the order for the final races against North Carolina, with the 3V8 opening the afternoon racing. UCF posted a winning time of 7:27.0 over the Tar Heels.
The 2V4 picked up a second win over UNC with a time of 8:05.7. The V4 finished second with a time of 7:51.1.
The 2V8 crossed the line over five seconds ahead of North Carolina in 7:16.4.
The V8 closed out the weekend with an open water victory, crossing the line in 6:55.3.
The Knights return to action next weekend, heading to Sarasota for the Sunshine State Invite.
