ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 18 UCF women's tennis team is set to resume action after a two-week break from dual match play as they host SMU on Sunday at noon.
The Mustangs will be the first conference opponent the Knights have faced this season and will be one of three meetings between American Athletic Conference foes on the 2021 slate for the Black and Gold.
UCF looks to remain perfect at home this season as they have already tallied eight victories in as many tries. The Knights have won three straight matches heading into Sunday, beating No. 24 Furman, FAU and North Florida.
Valeriya Zeleva and Ksenia Kuznetsova look to keep their winning streaks going as both enter the weekend with eight straight singles victories. Zeleva, who recently earned the highest singles ranking in program history at No. 25, has earned an 8-2 record thus far with a mark of 5-2 against ranked opponents.
SMU has collected five straight victories on their way to a 15-7 record. They've beat Cincinnati, UTSA, Northwestern State, UT Arlington and South Florida on their winning streak. The Mustangs' Jackie Nylander is ranked in singles play, sitting at No. 68 in the Oracle/ITA rankings. Nylander, along with Hadley Doyle, are ranked 30th in doubles.
