Knights Travel to No. 15 Florida State on Wednesday

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF baseball team is set to begin a four-game road trip with a midweek matchup against No. 15 Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. on Wednesday. The Knights are 6-2 over the last two weeks, including two weekend series victories over UNF and Jacksonville.
 
First pitch at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium is set for Wednesday at 6 p.m. and can be streamed on the ACC Network. Fans can also follow along via live stats.

Kenny Serwa, RHP (0-0, 3.86 ERA, 7.0 IP, 7 K) vs. Carson Montgomery (0-1, 1.86 ERA, 9.2 IP, 15 K)

Ranked Opposition

  • UCF is 27-28 against ranked opposition under head coach Greg Lovelady and are currently 2-1 against ranked opponents in 2021 after defeating then-ranked No. 1 Ole Miss in Oxford in February.
  • In the last two seasons, the Knights defeated No. 3 Florida and No. 14 Florida State in mid-week matchups and swept No. 8 Auburn at Plainsman Park in a three-game set.
  • UCF went a combined 8-6 against Top 25 opponents in 2019 and 2020.

  • The last time UCF and the Seminoles met, the Knights stopped their five-game losing skid with a 9-7 victory in Tallahassee in March 2019
  • The Black & Gold is 6-5 against teams in the Sunshine State, with 10 more games against Florida foes after the midweek contest with Florida State
  • Gephry Pena leads the Knights with 10 swipes (10th nationally) on the year, despite playing in just 14 of UCF's 19 games.
  • The Knights have hit 27 home runs – which is ranked 11th in the nation and leads the AAC
  • AJ Jones and Ben McCabe picked up American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll honors after leading the Knights to a 3-1 week over Jacksonville and Florida Atlantic
