Oettl, Rosa Earn Weekly AAC Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. – After an outstanding 4-0 victory over Temple this weekend, three members of the UCF men's soccer team have been recognized in the American Athletic Conference's weekly honors. Yannik Oettl was named Goalkeeper of the Week, Anderson Rosa got the nod as the Defensive Player of the Week and Hattabiou Barry landed a spot on the honor roll.

This is the third time this season and second in a row that Oettl has earned the Goalkeeper of the Week award. He faced a total of eight shot attempts and stopped all five shots on goal, earning his third clean sheet of 2020-21. Oettl climbs into a tie of fourth place on UCF's career shutouts list with 15, leveling himself with Dan Cordia who earned 15 shutouts from 1984-87. Not only is Oettl rising on the clean sheets list, but on the career saves list as well, where he trails Sean Johnson (2007-08) by just three saves for a tie of sixth place.

Rosa scored his first collegiate goal on his way to earning his second nod as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week. The true freshman has been a staple on the back line for the Knights, playing in 622 of 630 total possible minutes so far. Rosa's goal was borderline mind-blowing, as he lined up from roughly 25 yards out on a free-kick and threaded it past the diving goalkeeper.

Barry had an incredible match as well, recording his first multi-goal performance of his career and landing himself a spot on the weekly honor roll. He netted the team's opening goal in the 17th minute and scored again in the 89th. He's tallied three goals over the last two matches and has been a big part of the offense. Barry was last week's Offensive Player of the Week thanks to his opening goal at then-No. 9 SMU.
